Matthew 12:41
Matthew 12:41: “The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”
The generation of Jesus’ day received a particularly harsh judgment, because they actually had Jesus there in person, doing astonishing things, and yet they rejected Him. However, other generations – such as Nineveh, and our own generation – never saw Jesus and yet they repented. The generation of Christ’s day was given a singular gift – something no other generation got – and so, therefore, they are judged far stricter. To whom much is given much is expected.
