Matthew 12:40
Matthew 12:40: “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
This is why Jesus could not have been crucified on Friday. There are not three days and three nights between Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, no matter how you try to count it or what calendar you use. I’ve written a whole paper on this so I won’t repeat it here. Jesus most likely was crucified on Thursday.
