Matthew 14:13
Matthew 14:13: “When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.”
In other words, Jesus was touched by the death of John and went to spend some time alone – but then He saw the multitudes and their needs and ministered to them. He had compassion on them. He put the needs (and lost souls) of others ahead of His own pain and suffering – and in doing so, set a powerful example.
