Matthew 12:14

Posted by joncooper

Matthew 12:14: “Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.”

The Pharisees were upset that Jesus healed someone on the Sabbath, but Jesus pointed out that even the Pharisees would get their livestock out of the ditch if they fell into it on the Sabbath. They would help animals, but not people – thus showing their hypocrisy. For this the Pharisees decided to kill Jesus, the Messiah. They didn’t care who He was, or who He claimed to be. All they cared about was that He was trampling on their traditions, and so He had to go. The Pharisees did manage to kill Him – but they paid a terrible price for it.
