Revelation 19:11-21

Revelation 19:11: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Here, at last, is what we have been waiting for all along: the Second Coming! As you can see, Christ returns on a white horse with the armies of Heaven. (This is totally different from the Rapture, where Christ comes back alone to bring the Church to Heaven.) In Christ’s first coming He came to bring salvation and forgiveness; in Christ’s second coming He comes to fight. There will be a terrible battle, and Christ will win it single-handedly:

Revelation 19:17: “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.”

A great many people are going to die – the carnage will be terrible. Jesus has returned to fight the nations that came against Jerusalem and sacked it. Those armies are now looking for the Jews that the Lord has been keeping safe in the area around Petra. The Lord has returned to slaughter the antichrist’s army (along with the antichrist himself) and defeat the menace that is threatening His people.

Revelation 19:19: “And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.”

At this point the antichrist decides it would be a great idea to gather his armies and directly fight Jesus Christ Himself – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The antichrist, along with his armies, wants nothing less than to kill Jesus. The fact that they would even try to do something that stupid is staggering, but that just shows the utter depths of their depravity. They hate Jesus so much that they are going to try to kill Him.

However, it is a hopeless fight (as anyone with half a brain could have figured out). The antichrist, along with all of his kings and armies and power, is completely defeated. Jesus utterly crushes all of them, and there are no survivors. All those who tried to kill Jesus are killed:

Revelation 19:20: “And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.”

When Jesus returns He will bring with Him the armies of Heaven, but He will not use them. Jesus will do all of the fighting on His own, by Himself. He will take the beast and the false prophet and cast them alive into the Lake of Fire. Since Jesus kills them first, that must mean that after He kills them He will raise them from the dead so that He can cast them into the Lake alive. The rest of the antichrist’s armies are also slain by Jesus, and their dead carcasses are used to feed the birds. It is not even a contest – Jesus wins.
