Matthew 6:4

Posted by joncooper

Matthew 6:4: “That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”

This passage doesn’t actually use the phrase ‘heavenly reward’, but I think it is implied. There are some people whose deeds are known before they die, and there are others who are not discovered until after they die – and there are still others whose deeds are never learned at all. I think there may be rewards in this life, but I suspect that the real reward for obedience and faithfulness does not come until the next life. That is when we will be rewarded openly.
