Matthew 5:37
Matthew 5:37: “But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”
I think this verse is pretty straightforward. Instead of swearing great oaths and making promises that we have no intention of keeping, God just wants us to be honest. Let our yes be yes and our no be no. We should do what we’ve promised and keep our word. That is what honors God – not big promises that have no real meaning. We should be people of our word.
