Revelation 13:5-6
Revelation 13:5: “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.”
Here we see that same 42 month figure that we saw earlier. 42 months corresponds to 3.5 years. The antichrist will have the devil’s backing for the last half of the Tribulation. This is the same period of time when the Israelites will be in hiding, kept safe by God. While the Jews are kept safe, the antichrist will rule over the world.
The antichrist will use this power to blaspheme God and say terrible things against Him:
Revelation 13:6: “And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.”
Notice what the antichrist speaks against: God Himself, the name of God, the Temple of God, and all those who dwell in Heaven (which would include God, His angels, and (at this point) the Church). He truly is anti-Christ. He has great power – but that power will only last for a short time. Once his 42 months are complete, Jesus will return and end his reign forever.
