Revelation 12:12

Revelation 12:12: “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

When the devil was cast down to Earth, that caused great rejoicing in Heaven – but it did not cause great rejoicing on Earth. In fact, on Earth there is now great woe! This makes sense if you think about it: the entire demonic army of Satan, including the devil himself, is now trapped on Earth and unable to return to Heaven. This makes the devil exceedingly angry – and who do you think he is going to take his anger out on? Who is going to bear the brunt of his rage? Why, it will be “the inhabiters of the Earth”. Their lives just got much worse.

The devil’s wrath is compounded by the fact that he knows he doesn’t have much time left. Since he is cast out at the midpoint of the tribulation, he knows that he only has a little more than 3 years before Jesus Christ returns to Earth and binds him for a thousand years. His remaining time is quite short indeed, and he is not happy about it.
