Titus 2:12

Posted by joncooper

Titus 2:12: “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”

This is the point exactly. The Bible does not tell Christians that they might as well go ahead and do whatever they want, since they’re saved and the world is passing away and it doesn’t really matter. “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die” is the world’s attitude, not Christ’s. Jesus commanded Christian to deny themselves and follow Him – to choose a life of suffering and denial. We are to be sober and holy – not to give in to whatever sin sounds good at the time. We are in this world but we must not be of this world.
