Abortion vs the Death Penalty

I’ve noticed that the same people who support abortion are often opposed to the death penalty. What this means is that if a man rapes a woman and gets her pregnant, they believe it’s wrong to execute the rapist but right to execute the unborn child. How could anyone possibly consider that to be reasonable?
